Freedoms and Values

As our country continues the process of electing a new president, many canidates have voiced the opinion of a need for change. I know that our country is not perfect and that through change we progress as a people, society, and world. In fact, if we, as individuals, are to become like Heavenly Father, we must learn from our mistakes and change to be better.

There are many great things that our country has been founded upon. The freedoms we protect and enjoy are some of those. These freedoms have undergone change, as we learn to love all of Heavenly Father's children.

Many of our freedoms are based on core values. These values are eternal and should not be changed. They are important to our happiness on earth. I am so grateful for the freedom to worship Heavenly Father, for the sacredness of the family unit, and for the value each person has in Heavenly Father's plan for this life. I recognize that as a country we need change to progress, but I also know we need to protect the basic values that bless our lives.

As I looked at the Statue of Liberty pictures I felt a deep sense of gratitude for those of the past who established the foundation of freedoms our country enjoys. I wonder in awe at the masses of people who desire(d) to enjoy those same freedoms. I express gratitude for the many who have fought and are fighting to protect those values and freedoms. Lastly, through my word and deed, I desire to join the many valiant people who preserve those eternal values that abundantly bless our lives.

Lady Liberty

Last weekend we drove to Staton Island to look at a car and then to Liberty Park to see the Statue of Liberty. It was a fun family outing/adventure.

We were not prepared for the large crowds that were at the park for Earth Day!

It didn't matter, though 'cause the boat ride made up for the long wait. The boys just loved it! That was their favorite part of the whole trip.

High Flying Paper Airplanes

We checked out a book from the library about how to make paper airplanes. This has provided hours of entertainment for the boys and their friends. The planes actually fly, too. When the planes are "tired", then we can just make new ones.
